Kobe Bryant sets new game record 61 at Madison Square Garden
Los Angeles Lakers star player Kobe Bryant sets new game record after scoring 61 points against New York Knicks at the Madison Square Garden. Lakers beat the Knicks 126-117 without Andrew Bynum.
For the last 41 years since the Madison Square Garden opened, no players had scored more than what Bryant did. Kobe Bryant breaks Bernard King’s game record points of 60 last 1984 Christmas Day when Knicks played against New Jersey.
Before Bryant, Michael Jordan had the record for most points with 55 in March 28, 1995.
Kobe Bryant shots 19-of-31 from the floor (61.3%) and a perfect 20-for-20 from the free-throw line. Bryant left the game with 1:48 time to go. People saluting him with a chant “MVP!” as Bryant approached and broke the record.
