Nonito Donaire wins over Moruti Mthalane
Nonito Donaire of the Philippines wins over South African Moruti Mthalane. Donaire defend his International Boxing Federation Super Flyweight world title for the second time.The fight ended-up at sixth-round due to a cut suffered by Moruti Mthalane on the inside of left eyelid.
Donaire improved his boxing record to (21-1, 13 KOs), while Mthalane drops to (23-3, 15 KOs). Donaire showed that he was the more skillful fighter early on, controlling the game from the start. Although Mthalane landed some decent shot during the second and third rounds but not enough to change the tempo of the game.
Referee Joe Cortez stop the fight at 1:31 of the sixth-round, as there appeared to be a cut on Mthalane and blood on his face. The ringside doctor stopped the action to examine the bleeding, he noticed the blood was coming from a cut inside of the left eyelid of Mthalane a spot that was dangerous for the fight to continue. The South African fighter was taken to hospital for treatment.
