Gretchen Espina won the First Pinoy Idol
Gretchen Espina from Biliran won the first Pinoy Idol. The Final showdown of the Pinoy Idol contest was held at the SMX of SM Mall of Asia. The three finalist left for the first Pinoy Idol were Jayann Bautista from Pampanga, Gretchen Espina from Biliran and Ram Chaves from Cagayan de Oro. It seems to coincidence that the three left finalist has came from the three regions of the Philippines.
After Ram Chaves exit on the said competition, Jayann and Gretchen had to go on face-off singing the “coronation song” composed by Pinoy Idol judge Ogie Alcasid and arrange by Danny Tan entitled “To You”. In the end, the power of text votes prevail as Gretchen Espina won the first Pinoy Idol. There are some controversies about why Gretchen made it to the Final 3 but on the Final Showdown Gretchen proves that she’s the right one to be called as the first Pinoy Idol.
Gretchen will receive a prize package worth 5.7 million, a management contract from GMA Artist Center, a brand new car, a condo unit, a recording contract from Sony-BMG and a 1 million pesos cash from SM Supermalls.

Is it true that the family spent 1.5 million worth of cellphone loads just to make sure na mananalo si gretchen? Even my friend was given 1000 worth of loads at strictly monitored ang pagtetext nila?

well,for me gretchen is more deserving to the title pinoy idol,she has the looks,talents,stage ppresence,and the charm.In her rendetion of To You composed by Ogie Alcasid and arrange by Danny Tan she was great and she give all her emotion to sang it beatiful and her voice is very suit to the song,she gave justice to the song.
