Misuari Promotes The Creation of Four Federal States

Nur Misuari promotes the creation of four federal states instead of eleven which is proposed by Mindanao Senator Aquilino Pimentel. Misuari tries to convince House Speaker Prospero Nograles to support issue of federalism but only for four federal states namely Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao and Metro Manila. The federal bid would have a good chance but imposing only four federal state would be impossible I think.
Last Month, Senator Aquilino Pimentel and ten other senators presented a Joint Resolution No 10 that seeks to change the Philippines to a federal system of government. The proposed creation of 11 federal states, the executive branch will still remain in Metro Manila, the transfer of legislative branch Central Visayas and judiciary branch to Northern Mindanao. The said proposed amendment of the constitution will creates a big controversy.
Even if the Senates and Congress agrees on it, the decision will still be depend on the people if it is acceptable or not. One Congressman suggested that the constitutional amendments should be voted by the people during this coming 2010 National Elections.
