Philippine Students Win 2 SEAMEO Blog Awards

Philippine high school students from Mountain Province wins 2 awards of the Southeast Asian Minister of Education Organization (SEAMEO) for Regional School Internet Project Competition 2007. Two high school team students from Mountain Province General Comprehensive High School (MPGCHS) will recieve $715 each for their winning blogs, according to a statement by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

One team shared the top spot in the first round of Regional School Internet Project with the Bartley Secondary School of Singapore, while the other team shared the top spot of the second round with Maktab Sains Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan School from Brunei. MPGCHS team 3 won their blog with the title “Best Places in the Philippines”, while team 1 won also with the title “What are the Three Things You Would Call Your Country Unique?”.

Regional School Internet Project (RSIP) competition blog entries were judge based on content, presentation, language, quality of comments and discussion contributed and received.

The said contest is open for SEAMEO member countries: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Vietnam. The associate member countries are Australia, Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway and Spain. The main task of SEAMEO Regional Language Centre (RELC) is to assist in the development of language teacher education in the SEAMEO region, a region of rapid economic development that is fast integrating politically and economically.
